Unlock Hard Mode

At the ‘Title’ screen highlight ‘New Game’ using Control Pad 2 and hold down A + B + X + Y + ‘Select’ + ‘Start’. Then press ‘Start’ on Control Pad 1. If you have entered the code correctly you will hear a voice as confirmation.
